The Business Of Commercial Voiceover

With Casting Director and Voice Director Andy Roth

The Business of Voiceover webinar will offer an overview of the current voice-over climate, union versus non-union, commercial exclusivities and the importance of the demo.  He’ll also look at the advent of home studios and what kind of equipment is necessary for a competitive audition set-up.

How to Start Auditioning Now

Having an agent or manager is certainly a big help. They can open doors and get you opportunities not readily available otherwise. They understand the current rates and contracts and can be “bad cop” when payment issues need to be dealt with. But not having an agent doesn’t mean you can’t or won’t work. There are plenty of ways to find auditions and get opportunities on your own while you’re waiting for representation to come your way. There are also plenty of networking opportunities out there. We’ll discuss where to find them and how to maximize every opportunity that comes your way.

The Dreaded Rejection

So, you received a response!  CONGRATS!!  But the response is thanks but no thanks.  Don't lose hope.  Hearing “no” happens to everyone and it may not necessarily be the rejection that you think it is.

Finally… You’ve Landed A Meeting with an Agent!

By phone or in person, we’ll discuss how to prepare for your meeting … and how NOT to prepare.  We’ll discuss tips and tricks for a successful meeting and how to navigate next steps.  Approached with an offer to sign?  Well discuss they dynamics of Freelancing vs Signing. Signing across the board or just to a single department? You’ve made the roster, now how do you get to the top of it?

Class Notes: no special prep is required. The webinar will be on Zoom.
